I am excited to share that nearly $1.8 million in new funding from the Neighborhood Assistance Program will be coming to northwest Reading! This funding will go a long way to addressing many of the most pressing issues in our community – education access, food insecurity, healthcare coverage, and more.

Yesterday, I had the deeply humbling and heartfelt experience of welcoming the family of Marnie Schulenburg-Robidas to the Capitol.

Marnie was an actress and mother who sadly passed away from Inflammatory Breast Cancer after being misdiagnosed with mastitis only months after her daughter was born. Now, her family has been championing legislation to improve medical education to ensure IBC can be caught more frequently before it becomes fatal.

My sister colleagues, Rep. Bridget M Kosierowski and Rep. Jennifer O'Mara, have introduced legislation that will do just that. I am thankful to the Schulenburg-Robidas family for doing the work to turn their grief into policy so that Marnie and her incredible legacy are always remembered, and I will proudly work to see HB 2850 signed into law. 🩷

Congratulations to the Reading Hospital - Tower Health on today's groundbreaking of the new John and Maryanne Post Center for Emergency Care!

This new center is an investment in the health and safety of our community, and a reminder of how important it is to have quality emergency care close to home for our families and neighbors. I am grateful to the doctors, nurses, and staff who care for our community every day, and I look forward to seeing this project come to life.

It was an honor to attend the 39th Annual Freedom Fund Gala hosted by the NAACP Reading Branch at Redner's Event Center.

It was a meaningful afternoon of community, music, and reflection, beginning with a reception featuring live local performers and followed by the gala. We were inspired by keynote speaker Catherine Hicks, President of the NAACP Philadelphia, and by the commitment of so many neighbors who came together in support of justice, equality, and opportunity for all.

Congratulations to this year's award recipients: Dionne Stubbs, Community Impact Award; Johnson's Maintenance Service LLC, Corporate Impact Award; and Aminah Williams and Miles Smith, Youth Impact Awards. Thank you for your service and the difference you make in our community.

Thank you to the NAACP Reading Branch for bringing our community together and for the work you do every day to move our community forward.

It was an honor to attend the 2026 Berks County Latino Chamber of Commerce Annual Gala at the DoubleTree by Hilton, an evening of celebration, recognition, and community impact.

It was great to spend the night with business leaders, entrepreneurs, community partners, and neighbors celebrating the achievements and contributions of the Latino business community across Berks County and beyond. I was proud to present citations to this year's award recipients: Centro Hispano, Community Partner of the Year, for 60 years of supporting individuals and families in our community; La Mega Radio, Small Business of the Year; and Fabulous Cake Factory, owned by Edwin and Mia Rios, Emerging Entrepreneur. Congratulations to all three!

Thank you to the Berks County Latino Chamber of Commerce for bringing us together and for the work you do to support Latino entrepreneurs throughout our region.

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Children's Health Day at Centro Hispano Daniel Torres – Casa de la Amistad on October 8 and 9!

This two-day event brought free state services to Berks County families, including Property Tax/Rent Rebate application assistance and free vision care through the VSP Vision Care Eyes of Hope Mobile Vision Clinic. We are proud that 232 people received vision care and glasses.

Thank you to VSP Eyes of Hope for bringing your mobile clinic to our community. A special thank you to Michael Toledo and Dr. Rich Christophe, who volunteered their time and recruited their optometrist friends to volunteer as well. Your generosity made a real difference for so many children.

Thank you to Centro Hispano and the entire Centro team for opening your doors and hosting us, and to our staff and team for all the work you put into making this event a success. And thank you to every family who came out. When children can see clearly, they can learn, play, and thrive.
