We are proud to highlight our 2026 Outstanding Young Alumna recipient, Maura (Lysne) Benzine!

After graduating from Benilde-St. Margaret’s High School in 2015, Maura attended Mount Marty to pursue her dream of becoming a nurse while playing volleyball. Following her graduation in 2019, she began her nursing career on the Pulmonary Unit at Sanford Hospital in Sioux Falls, where she has served as a charge nurse for the past four years and actively contributes to the department's Hero Committee. In addition to her clinical work, Maura serves as a Clinical Instructor with the University of Sioux Falls, guiding and mentoring future nurses. Outside of work, she enjoys home projects, reading, playing sand volleyball with fellow Mount Marty alumni, and spending time with her rescue dog, Finn, and her husband. The American Red Cross must collect enough blood every day to meet the needs of accident and burn victims, heart surgery and organ transplant patients, and those receiving treatment for leukemia, cancer, or sickle cell disease.

The need for blood is constant. Every two seconds, someone in the United States needs blood.

Congratulations to Mount Marty's very own Dr. Danielle Pierotti on her prestigious appointment to the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC).

As one of just 17 national healthcare experts on this independent federal body, Dr. Pierotti will bring a vital, nursing-centered perspective to Congress, ensuring the unique challenges of rural healthcare get the national attention they deserve.

We are incredibly proud to have Mount Marty leadership representing our community and driving evidence-based healthcare policy in Washington, D.C.
