๐Ÿš’๐Ÿ”ฅ Fire Prevention Open Houses in Mastic and Islip Terrace! ๐Ÿพ

Suffolk County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services had a great time joining the Mastic Fire Department and Islip Terrace Fire Department for their Fire Prevention Open Houses!

Our Fire Marshals taught children important fire safety skills, including how to put out fires, while our Emergency Preparedness team shared valuable tips on what to do during an emergency. These hands-on learning experiences help families build the knowledge and confidence they need to stay safe and prepared.

K9 Jimmy also joined in on the fun at both events, meeting community members and making these family-friendly days even more special! ๐Ÿ•โ€๐Ÿฆบโค๏ธ

Thank you to both fire departments for welcoming us and helping make fire prevention education fun and accessible for our Suffolk County community. Together, we can build a safer, more prepared community!

On Friday, October 9th students from Suffolk County Community Collegeโ€™s Fire Protection Program, including the Fire Service Management & Leadership and Introduction to Fire Protection classes, visited FRES and the Fire Academy.

During their visit, students learned about the resources available through FRES and the range of services it provides to support emergency response. Through tours and presentations, students gained valuable insight into the many facets of emergency services that are not always visible to the public.

Opportunities like these help broaden studentsโ€™ understanding of the emergency services field, highlight potential career paths, and may even spark an interest in pursuing a future career in emergency services.

Thank you to the students and Professor Izzo for visiting!

On Thursday, October 8, 2026, staff from Suffolk County Fire, Rescue and Emergency Services, Divisions of Communications and EMS provided an in-service to the East Hampton Village Dispatchers on the Mobile Emergency Response Vehicle (MERV).

East Hampton dispatchers learned the proper procedures in requesting the MERV for large scale incidents or long duration incidents for Firefighter rehabilitation.

The dispatchers were also shown the internal medical capabilities of the MERV and how it can be set up for configurations for various patients.
