Cumberland County Food Security Council Educating, Advocating, and taking Action for a Hunger Free Cumberland County. Everyone is welcome!

Please join us at our next bi-monthly council meeting (check our 'Events' section to see when and where the next meeting will be held). The CC Food Security Council is made up of engaged citizens, community leaders, and representatives from local organizations that are leading the fight against hunger in Cumberland County and across Maine. Our efforts focus on educating our community about why our neighbors are food insecure and what can be done to create greater food security in our county. We advocate for policy changes and decision-making that support systemic change and ground level action. We believe that we can accomplish more together and that collaborative advocacy and collective action can produce a hunger-free Maine.

How many Pineland Peppers can Peter Piper PICK?! 🫑♻️ We gleaned over 2500 lbs of peppers from Pineland Farms on Monday, and we just scratched the surface of what is out there.

There are much more that will go unused unless we get LOADS of folks out there on FRIDAY (8/14) and MONDAY (8/17)! Tell your friends, colleagues and casual acquaintances to come enjoy the harvest of their dreams with this cross-county effort.

Sign up through the link in our bio (& you need not have gleaned with us before).

🌶️HOT ALERT: (BIG) Pepper 🫑 Harvest Monday at Pineland Farms! Sign up and spread the word!

What’s the saying, “Peter Piper Picked a Peck of *Pineland* Peppers” ?? Well however much a peck is, we’re picking more! We’re looking at 4 rows of peppers, each approx. 4 football fields in length. Wowza!

We need as many hands as we can get on this and maybe even some more vehicles to help deliver afterward. We’re joining forces with other gleaning organizations in Maine, so it’s a once-in-a-Summer opportunity (though we hope for more!)

Please spread the word & sign up through the link in our bio! 🫑❤️♻️
