Today, Miami Township Fire-Rescue pauses to observe Patriot Day, honoring the 2,977 lives lost 25 years ago on September 11, 2001.

We remember the civilians, the brave individuals aboard the flights, and the 343 FDNY firefighters, 72 law enforcement officers, and 8 emergency medical technicians who made the ultimate sacrifice while rushing toward danger. Their courage defines the true spirit of service.

As we lower our flags and observe a moment of silence, we renew our promise to Never Forget their bravery, their families, and the unity that brought our nation together.

The heat is on (who remembers that song?)…according to our friends at the NWS, hot temperatures and high heat indices will occur for the next three days as strong upper level high pressure spreads over the area. The heat will ease late in the week as a cold front sags southwards.
