On 10/24/2026, at approximately 1222 hours, Dayton Deputies were dispatched to 369 Dayton Valley Road, Dayton Valley Village Apartments, Dayton, Nevada, 89403, in reference to a missing person. Call notes indicated the reporting party’s son, ORION PERKINS, went to the trunk-or-treat last night and had not returned.

Upon my arrival, Deputies met with the reporting party and asked what happened. The reporting party stated ORION went to the trunk-or-treat with some friends last night and did not return. Deputies learned that ORION left around 1630 hours, and went to the trunk-or-treat, which ended around 1800 hours. Deputies learned that he could have stayed at a couple of different friends' houses.

During the investigation and further interviewing, a couple of ORION’s friends were contacted. Both friends stated ORION was wearing a grey sweatshirt, blue jeans, and a hat (grey or black). The friends also advised Deputies that ORION had freshly shaved his head bald and was planning on running away. The friends advised that ORION was last seen on 10/24/2026, at approximately 1200 hours. They were all in the dead-end area of Turnberry Lane hanging out when word had made it to ORION that people were looking for him. ORION then hopped a fence that was parallel to Lakes Blvd and began walking West towards Lakes Blvd. The friends did not know where his destination was, or what his plan was moving forward.

ORION is known to frequent the Dayton Valley Road area. He frequents the pond off of Lakes Blvd, the Skate Park, the Library, and other areas in that vicinity. ORION may hide from anyone searching for him, but otherwise is not a threat to the public. ORION is approximately 5’00 tall, 110 lbs, with a freshly shaved head, blue eyes, thin build, with fair skin. If you have seen or know of Orion's whereabouts, please contact Lyon County Dispatch at (775) 463-6620.

Message of the Week 10/23/2026

Long before social media, digital alerts, and instant communication, law enforcement relied on a simple but powerful tool to help bring fugitives to justice: the wanted poster.

The traditional wanted poster has evolved into social media posts, asking the public's help in identifying or locating individuals wanted for crimes. The Lyon County Sheriff’s Office page is followed by tens of thousands of individuals across Northern Nevada; it is obviously a very effective delivery system, with a wide audience, when we are hoping to identify or locate a suspect.

Our communities have delivered quick information on our “Warrant of the Week” suspects. Recently, the community played a large part in identifying a burglary suspect in Moundhouse, helping close the investigation with an arrest. Feedback from the community has been overwhelmingly positive regarding our digital wanted posters.

In the 19th century, wanted posters and notices were commonly distributed through newspapers, printed handbills, and public postings. As photography became more widely available, authorities began incorporating photographs into wanted notices, making it easier for the public to recognize suspects.

One of the most famous examples was the wanted poster for John Wilkes Booth, the assassin of President Abraham Lincoln in 1865. Federal authorities distributed notices describing Booth and his alleged accomplices, offering rewards for information leading to their capture.

Wanted posters have become a familiar part of American law enforcement. Agencies use them to share descriptions, photographs, identifying marks, and reward information with communities across the country.

Today, the traditional wanted poster has evolved into digital bulletins, social media posts, and nationwide law enforcement databases. While the technology has changed, the underlying principle remains the same: an informed public can be an important partner in helping law enforcement locate wanted individuals and solve crimes.

In Lyon County, community awareness and public cooperation continue to play an important role in keeping our communities safe. History reminds us that sometimes, one piece of information can make all the difference.

Respectfully,
Sheriff Brad Pope

S*x Offender Task Force Arrests Fernley Man for Registration Violation and Resisting Arrest

Fernley, Nevada – On October 21, 2026, members of the Lyon County Sheriff's Office S*x Offender Task Force (SOTF) arrested 49-year-old Fernley resident Sean Patrick Ringer for failing to comply with Nevada's s*x offender registration requirements.

Ringer, a convicted s*x offender required to maintain current registration information, was determined to be out of compliance after failing to complete a required registration verification in August 2026.

During contact with Task Force members at the Fernley Sheriff's Office substation, Ringer was advised of his registration violation and that he would be taken into custody. Ringer became uncooperative and physically resisted deputies' attempts to place him under arrest. Deputies were ultimately able to safely restrain Ringer and take him into custody.

Ringer was transported to the Lyon County Jail and booked on the following charges:

• Violation of S*x Offender Registration Requirements – Felony
• Resisting a Public Officer – Misdemeanor

His total bail was set at $6,140.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office S*x Offender Task Force maintains a zero-tolerance approach to violations of Nevada's s*x offender registration requirements. Registered s*x offenders are responsible for understanding and complying with all applicable registration and verification requirements. Failure to comply may result in arrest and criminal prosecution.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office S*x Offender Task Force is committed to ensuring that convicted s*x offenders residing, working, or attending school within Lyon County remain in compliance with Nevada's registration requirements. Through proactive compliance checks, targeted enforcement efforts, and information provided by the public, the Task Force works to promote accountability and enhance public safety throughout Lyon County.

Members of the public who have information regarding a registered s*x offender who may be out of compliance with registration requirements are encouraged to contact the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office S*x Offender Task Force at [email protected].

Lyon County Sheriff's Office S*x Offender Task Force Arrests Fernley Man on Failure to Appear Warrant

FERNLEY, NEVADA – On October 19, 2026, members of the Lyon County Sheriff's Office S*x Offender Task Force (SOTF) arrested 39-year-old Fernley resident and registered s*x offender Joel Sanchez on an outstanding felony warrant for Failure to Appear.

Sanchez was previously charged with violating Nevada's s*x offender registration requirements. On October 6, 2026, Sanchez failed to appear for a scheduled court proceeding related to that charge. As a result, the Canal Township Justice Court issued a warrant for his arrest on October 15, 2026.

Although Sanchez is currently in compliance with his s*x offender registration requirements, his current compliance does not relieve him of his responsibility to answer for previous violations or comply with court orders.

Sanchez was arrested by members of the Lyon County Sheriff's Office S*x Offender Task Force and booked into the Lyon County Jail on the outstanding felony Failure to Appear warrant. His bail was set at $5,000.

The Lyon County Sheriff's Office S*x Offender Task Force remains committed to ensuring that convicted s*x offenders residing, working, or attending school within Lyon County comply with Nevada's registration requirements. This commitment extends beyond identifying registration violations to ensuring that offenders are held accountable through the judicial process. Through proactive compliance checks, targeted enforcement efforts, and information provided by the public, the Task Force works to promote accountability and enhance public safety throughout Lyon County.

Members of the public who have information regarding a s*x offender who may be out of compliance with registration requirements are encouraged to contact the Lyon County Sheriff's Office S*x Offender Task Force at [email protected].

On October 9, 2026, a business in Mound House, Nevada, was burglarized. Investigators believed one of the suspects may also have been connected to a previous burglary at the same location, during which hundreds of thousands of dollars in property were stolen.

As the investigation progressed, investigators obtained a search warrant for a residence in Silver Springs, Nevada. During the ex*****on of the search warrant, investigators recovered stolen property, approximately 26 pounds of ma*****na, methamphetamine, drug paraphernalia, and multiple fi****ms, including fi****ms without serial numbers.

This investigation was a coordinated effort involving members of the Lyon County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit and patrol deputies assigned to multiple commands.
