DONICA ROAD PROJECT UPDATE
WE HAVE SOME GREAT NEWS TO SHARE! DONICA ROAD SEWER EXTENSION IS OFFICIALLY OPERATIONAL!
After months of construction and more than a few challenges along the way, we successfully started up the new Donica Road pump station today. We encountered a few minor issues during startup, which is not unusual with a new facility, but our team worked through them and the station is now up and running.
This was the final major milestone needed to bring the sewer extension online. The new infrastructure is now operational, marking the completion of a significant investment in the community’s wastewater infrastructure.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT FOR PROPERTY OWNERS
There are still several steps that must take place before individual property owners begin the connection process.
1. The District must first finalize the total cost of the project. Once all expenses have been accounted for, we will deduct applicable grants and other funding contributions to determine the amount that must be recovered through property assessments.
2. Property owners will receive a written notification of their proposed assessment.
3. The District will hold a public hearing to explain how the assessments were calculated, answer questions, and provide an opportunity for interested parties to be heard.
We understand that assessments and connection requirements are
important issues for property owners, and we intend to make this process as clear and transparent as possible. Information regarding the District’s assessment financing options will also be provided.
IS CONSTRUCTION COMPLETELY FINISHED
Not quite. While the sewer system is now operational, there are still some finishing touches needed throughout the project area. The District and our engineers are currently developing a final punch list for the contractor. Most of the remaining items are cosmetic in nature, including final grading, landscaping, surface restoration, cleanup, and other details that need attention before the project is formally closed out. Residents may continue to see crews working along Donica Rd and around the pump station as these items are addressed. This work will not prevent the sewer system from operating.
THANK YOU
A sincere thank you to everyone as this has been a major undertaking, and it certainly hasn’t been without its challenges. We want to thank Albanese D&S, Woodard & Curran, our subcontractors, and the many District employees who have worked hard to bring this project to completion. We also appreciate the support of our funding partners, whose contributions helped make this investment possible.
Most importantly we want to thank the residents and businesses along Donica Rd and in the surrounding area. We know it has not been easy for any of you, but we greatly appreciate your patience through it all.
Please watch for future correspondence regarding assessments and the connection process. We will provide clear instructions and reasonable notice as we move into the next phase.
This sewer extension represents an important long-term investment in reliable wastewater service, groundwater protection, and the future of this neighborhood.
