Last evening both Engine & Truck 1 responded with mutual aid for a reported structure fire in West York Borough. Crews investigated a smoke haze and odor on all 3 floors that was traced back to a furnace malfunction. Thank you to all mutual aid crews that assisted.

The below mentioned Town Hall meeting was canceled. The regularly scheduled meeting will be on the 6th of November at 6pm at borough hall. This will be the meeting where the budget is voted on.

This afternoon the on duty career personnel took advantage of the cooler weather to meet up with Engine 9 to review ladder pipe operations and engine driver competencies! The 1994 Seagrave flows like a charm!

Working Fire - 9 Box
This morning Truck 1 w/4 responded at dispatch for a reported box alarm in Dover Township. Truck 1 arrived as the first due special service and entered the first floor for a primary search along with a crew from Engine 9 for fire attack. Truck 1 crew located a deceased dog just inside the residence, all other searches of the building were negative. Crews assisted with opening up and checking for extension before being released by command.

2 Alarm Working Fire
1025hrs. Truck 1 w/4 assisted York Area United Fire and Rescue with multiple alarm fire in the 3400Blk. of North George St. Truck 1 dispatched as the Working Fire Truck, arrived splitting crews between the main fire building & B1 exposure. Crews assisted with fire attack and opening up before returning to service.

This evening Truck 1 w/5 assisted Goodwill Fire Company #1 York Township with a kitchen fire in the 2200 Blk. of South Queen St. York Township. The Truck crew assisted with ladders, opening up, and ventilation.

Last evening Station 1 spent the evening reviewing RIT & downed firefighter rescue techniques. The crew went over our RIT pack, large area search bags, face peice change over, and SCBA conversions. Earlier in the year (2) new RIT packs were placed in service on Engine & Truck 1 allowing for both rigs to be utilized if we are assigned the Rapid Intervention.

Engine 1 w/3 are currently on scene in York City assisting York City Department of Fire/Rescue Services with a 2 Alarm Fire in the 700Blk of W. Poplar St. 99 units arrived with fire showing side charlie and requested the Working Fire Dispatch.

1st Due Reported House Fire
2331hrs. Station 1, & Mutual Aid responded to the 1400 Blk. of West Poplar Terrace, West York Borough for a reported structure fire. Engine 1 w/3, & Truck 1 w/3 responded at dispatch and arrived to a (3) story duplex with normal conditions from the exterior. E1 secured a primary water source at Highland/WPT and stretched a dry line to the front door while Truck 1 laddered the building. Crews investigated the report of smoke in the building, but thankfully no smoke or fire was found. The box was scaled back to Station 1 & Station 50.

2ND ALARM FIRE W/ RESCUE
0518hrs. Engine 1 w/3 responded to assist York City Department of Fire/Rescue Services on the 2nd Alarm Assignment of a Working Fire in the 300 Blk. of W. North St. York City. Engine 1 arrived in the ally on Side Charlie and was directed by York City Police Department (York, Pa) & Community Life Team EMS to conduct a victim rescue from the 3rd floor apartment. Prior to E1’s arrival, a LifeTeam EMT was assisted to the 3rd floor roof by York City PD and broke the apartment window allowing for the victim to be assisted out. E1 crew threw a ground ladder to the 2nd floor, and pulled the ladder to the 3rd floor. E1, LifeTeam EMS, and City PD assisted the victim from the 3rd floor to the ground. EMS began patient care, and transported to York Hosptial.
E1, with the assistance of E99-1 operator, stretched a line to the 2nd floor exposure building and were met with moderate heat/smoke conditions. Crews completed a primary search on the 2nd/3rd floor and vented the 3rd floor with minimal fire extension to the exposure building. E1 remained on scene for 2 hours before taking up.
2 additional victims were located deceased in the structure. York City PD is actively investigating the cause of the fire. We extend our thoughts and prayers to the loved ones and family members of the deceased.
