The Center for Traffic Safety The Center provides service to the counties of Adams, Lancaster, Lebanon, and York.

Although it is located in York County, the Center for Traffic Safety serves a region which also includes Adams, Lancaster, and Lebanon Counties. The Center is funded exclusively by federal highway safety grants/contracts administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation. Advisory bodies, comprised of residents from the business and private sector, are set-up in each county to facilitate our coordinators in developing specific traffic safety programming.

Remember, at some point in the day EVERYONE is a pedestrian:

🚶‍➡️ Follow the rules of the road
🚶‍➡️ Use crosswalks when available
🚶‍➡️ Walk on sidewalks when available

🚘 Look out for pedestrians and minimize blind spots
🚘 Be careful in hard-to-see conditions
🚘 Yield to pedestrians in crosswalks

At an intersection with a stop sign, you must STOP completely.

In 2025, there were nearly 3,000 crashes involving a driver who ran a stop sign, resulting in 20 fatalities and 2,311 injuries.

Rolling stops are not legal, or safe. Stop completely, check for pedestrians and cross traffic, and proceed when it is safe.
