SENIOR FARMERS MARKET NUTRITION VOUCHER DISTRIBUTIONS
for the week of June 22 - 26, 2026.

The York County Area Agency on Aging will distribute fruit and vegetable vouchers to qualifying seniors at the following locations this week:

Monday, June 22, 9:00 - 11:30 am
Delta Senior Center
5 Pendyrus Street, Suite 1, Delta

Wednesday, June 24, 9:00 - 11:30 am
Stewartstown Area Senior Center
26 S. Main Street, Stewartstown

Friday, June 26, 9:00 - 11:30 am
South Central York County Senior Center
150 E. Main Street, New Freedom

Eligible seniors could receive $25 worth of vouchers to buy fresh fruit and vegetables grown in Pennsylvania.
Income Requirements and Distribution Information
2026 Household Annual Income Requirements are:

1 person $29,526 ($2461/month)
2 people $40,034 ($3336/month)
3 people $50,542 ($4212/month)

Other Important Information:

Qualifying seniors must be York County residents and be 60+ years of age by December 31 of the qualifying year.

All qualifying household members may receive vouchers if their total combined income is within income requirements.

Recipients can only receive the SFMNP vouchers once per program year.

Seniors living in a nursing home, personal care home, or any residential facility where meals are provided are ineligible to receive vouchers.

You must show proof of AGE and RESIDENCY at the distribution site.

Most families tour senior care facilities the same way they shop for a hotel.

They look at the lobby. They notice if it smells clean. They decide if the staff seem 'nice.'

None of that tells you what happens at 2am on a Tuesday when your loved one needs help.

The indicators that actually predict care quality are things most families never think to ask about:

Staff turnover rate - because high turnover means your loved one will see a different face every few weeks, which is especially harmful for residents with memory issues who depend on familiar relationships.

The state inspection report - a public document that any quality facility will share without hesitation. Reluctance to produce it is one of the most reliable red flags in the industry.

How care plans are reviewed - facilities that reassess regularly respond to changing needs. Facilities that update 'when something changes' are reactive rather than attentive.

What a typical day looks like, hour by hour - because the answer reveals whether the facility prioritizes engagement or simply provides custodial care.

A facility tour without a framework is just an emotional experience. A tour with the right questions is an evaluation.

The difference in outcome - for your loved one and for your peace of mind - is significant.

PA MEDI is a free health insurance counseling program designed to help Medicare beneficiaries with Medicare and other insurance issues.

PA MEDI counselors are specially trained volunteers who can answer questions about Medicare, Medicare Supplement Insurance, Medicare Advantage Plans, Medicaid and Prescription Drug Coverage.

Prescheduled appointments at various sites throughout the County allow the volunteer to work within a flexible timeframe. Involvement in this program requires a time commitment of 8 to 10 hours per month. Volunteers attend an 18-hour training program offered by the Pennsylvania Department of Aging. In addition, volunteers receive additional local and state training, and certification and support from local PA MEDI staff. A 2-year commitment is requested.

Opportunity for Youth to Help Seniors!

Middle and high school students (grades 7–12) can make a difference through the Rent-A-Kid Program.

This program connects youth with older adults (age 60+) who need help with light household chores and yard work—like mowing lawns or shoveling snow. It’s a great way to get important jobs done AND build friendships across generations.

Seniors call the Rent-A-Kid coordinator for names of local youth helpers
Seniors and youth arrange the job details, timing, and pay
