Heads up if your weekend plans include travel to the Southside!

Halfway there! Westbound HRBT repaving is complete & crews are shifting to the eastbound tunnel this weekend.

🛑 The HRBT will CLOSE eastbound toward Norfolk from 9 p.m. Oct. 16 - 5 a.m. Oct. 19 for repaving.
✅ Westbound will remain OPEN.

Drivers should use the I-664 Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel as the primary alternate route during the closures and allow for additional travel time.

Third-party navigation tools, such as Google Maps, Apple Maps and Waze, may not correctly reflect the closures. Motorists should check 511.VDOT.Virginia.gov for the most up-to-date closure and traffic information.

The following York County offices will be closed Monday, October 19, in observance of Yorktown Day:

• County government offices
• York-Poquoson Social Services
• York County libraries
• Voter registration offices
• Waste Management Center offices

York County courts, Virginia Cooperative Extension, the VPPSA Compost Facility, the transfer station and citizen drop-off areas at the Waste Management Center will remain open. Garbage and recycling collection will not be affected by the holiday.

Residents needing assistance may submit requests through the Customer Service Request Portal at www.yorkcounty.gov/requests.

Some parking areas at Back Creek Park will be closed this week for repaving. See below for details. York County Parks and Recreation

🚧Pavement Improvements at Back Creek Park
- The entire park will be paved, except the front parking lot.
- Paving of the roadways will be carried out one side at a time to maintain access to the park.
- There may be brief interruptions in the front parking lot as paving work progresses through the area.
- Boat parking will remain available in designated sections to ensure access to the boat ramp on days when paving is not occurring in those areas.

🛥️Boat Ramp Closure
Please note that the boat ramp will be closed on Wednesday, October 14. We advise you to plan your visit accordingly.

🐾Dog Park Access
The dog park will remain open throughout the paving project. However, during active paving, parking directly in front of the dog park may be temporarily unavailable. Visitors may need to park further away and walk to the entrance.

We appreciate your patience and understanding as we enhance Back Creek Park! Please exercise caution around construction areas and adhere to any posted signage or directions from staff.
