Kendall County Sheriff’s Office Announces Enforcement Results

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office announced the results of its enhanced traffic enforcement efforts under the Federal Fiscal Year 2026 Sustained Traffic Enforcement Program (STEP). These efforts, conducted between Oct. 1, 2025, and Sept. 30, 2026, aimed to reduce traffic crashes and save lives.

During the STEP enforcement period, deputies issued 690 speeding citations, 5 occupant restraint citations, 25 electronic device use citations, 86 other traffic citations, and made 6 DUI arrests, 15 traffic arrests, and 7 criminal arrests.

These enforcement efforts were part of high-visibility traffic safety campaigns, including Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over, Click It or Ticket, and Drive High, Get a DUI. By focusing on the most dangerous driving behaviors, including impaired driving, speeding, distracted driving, and failure to wear seat belts, the Sheriff’s Office worked to keep roadways safe and prevent serious crashes.

“Our goal was simple: safer roads for everyone,” said Undersheriff Bobby Richardson. “By focusing on the leading causes of crashes, we worked to save lives and urge drivers to take responsibility, because unsafe driving puts everyone at risk.”

The STEP grant was funded with federal highway safety funds and administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation as part of a statewide effort to improve traffic safety and reduce fatalities.

Last week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Sheriff Tessa to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office!

Tessa earned the title of Sheriff for the Day after her family won a raffle at the CASA Kendall County Golf Outing. She was officially sworn in and then spent the day getting a behind-the-scenes look at the Sheriff’s Office.

We had a bunch of fun activities planned for her, and Sheriff Tessa was ready for the job! Her day included tours of the Sheriff’s Office, the Kendall County Emergency Management Agency, KenCom, and the Courthouse. She also got to try her hand at fingerprinting, meet our comfort K9, Snow, and spend some time with a handful of puppies from Kendall County Animal Control and Adoption Center.

And, of course, she got to pick where we got lunch and chose McDonald’s in Yorkville!

We hope Sheriff Tessa had as much fun being Sheriff for the Day as we did having her here. Thanks for spending the day with us, Sheriff Tessa!
