🌳🌱 Growing Knowledge and Getting Outside! 🌱🌳
On Tuesday, October 6, a few Kendall County SWCD staff members traveled to Rasmussen Nature Center in LaSalle County to support the LaSalle County Soil and Water Conservation District with a hands-on learning event for 4th graders!
Students kicked off the day learning about tree cookies and how tree rings reveal a tree’s age before helping plant four white oak trees. 🌳 We also led a nature walk through the woodlands, where students learned to identify native trees like bur oak, red oak, white oak, black cherry, and hackberry, and spotted different mushrooms, including a puffball! 🍄
Thank you to LaSalle County SWCD for hosting us and allowing us to be part of a fun day of outdoor learning! 🌎💚
