🚒🔥 FIRE PREVENTION WEEK! 🔥🚒

October is Fire Prevention Month, and members of the Milton Fire Department have been busy getting out into our community and teaching our youngest residents about fire safety! 👨‍🚒🚒

🚨 Last week, our members had the opportunity to assist the Maurice Volunteer Fire Department with fire prevention activities at Advance Early Academy.

🚨 Today, our members teamed up with the Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal to provide fire prevention education at a local early childhood learning facility.

During these visits, we had the opportunity to interact with the children, introduce them to firefighters, and help them learn the importance of fire safety at an early age.

We would like to thank the Maurice Fire Department, Louisiana State Fire Marshal’s Office, and both learning facilities for allowing us to be part of these events!

Fire prevention starts with education, and it’s never too early to learn how to stay safe! ❤️🚒

📚🚌 Back to School Safety Reminder 🚒🍎

As students head back to school, the Milton Fire Department would like to remind everyone to help keep our children safe during the busy school season.

🚸 Drivers:
• Slow down in school zones and obey posted speed limits.
• Stop for school buses when their stop arm is extended and red lights are flashing.
• Stay alert for children crossing streets, walking along roadways, or riding bicycles.
• Eliminate distractions—put your phone down and keep your eyes on the road.

🚶 Parents & Students:
• Use designated crosswalks whenever possible.
• Look left, right, and left again before crossing the street.
• Wear bright or reflective clothing if walking or biking early in the morning.
• Make eye contact with drivers before crossing in front of vehicles.
• Always wear a properly fitted helmet when riding a bicycle.

🚌 School Bus Safety:
• Stay at least 10 feet away from the bus while waiting.
• Cross in front of the bus only after the driver signals that it’s safe.
• Never walk behind a school bus.

Let’s all do our part to make this school year a safe one for every student, teacher, and family in our community.

From all of us at the Milton Fire Department, we wish everyone a safe, successful, and exciting school year! Stay safe, stay alert, and have a great first day back! ❤️🚒📚

Whether you’re enjoying fireworks with family, grilling with friends, or watching a community display, please put safety first. Always use fireworks responsibly, keep a bucket of water or hose nearby, supervise children at all times, and remember to keep used fireworks soaked until they are completely cooled and soaked before throwing them away.

From all of us at the Milton Fire Department, we wish you and your family a fun, safe, and happy Independence Day!

⚠️ WEATHER ALERT & PREPAREDNESS REMINDER ⚠️

The Milton Fire Department is closely monitoring the weather system expected to move through our area over the coming days. Forecasts indicate the potential for heavy rainfall, strong winds, lightning, and localized flooding. Now is the time to prepare before conditions deteriorate.

✅ Secure outdoor furniture, trash cans, and loose items around your home.
✅ Ensure flashlights, batteries, and emergency supplies are readily available.
✅ Charge cell phones, portable chargers, and other essential electronics.
✅ Avoid driving through flooded roadways. Remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown.
✅ Have multiple ways to receive weather alerts and emergency notifications.
✅ Check on elderly family members, neighbors, and those who may need assistance.

If flooding occurs, move to higher ground and avoid walking or driving through standing water. Just a few inches of moving water can sweep a vehicle away.

Our members are prepared and ready to respond should emergency situations arise. We encourage everyone to stay weather aware, monitor trusted weather sources, and take precautions to keep your family safe.

For emergencies, call 911.

Stay safe,
🚒 Milton Fire Department
