E Z PASS. Did you know that you don't need a transponder in all your vehicles? If you download the E Z Pass app and set up your account, you can add vehicles to your account by license plate number. You can have 4 vehicles per a single transponder. This means that when you drive thru a toll reader instead of getting a "Toll by Plate" bill in the mail, you will automatically be charged directly through your E Z Pass account. By using the app, you can add or remove license plate numbers at any time. If you have 1 transponder, you are automatically billed 35.00 when your balance drops below 10.00. Why pay for a transponder in every car when 1 will do up to 4 vehicles? If your child has a vehicle you don't have to put a transponder in the car, just add the plate number to your account. The vehicle doesn't have to be in your name to add a plate to your account.
It's important to maintain an accurate list of plates on the app. So, if you buy a vehicle and get a new plate, add it. Get a replacement plate in the mail from PennDOT to replace your faded plate, be sure and update your app. If a plate is lost or stolen, remove it from the app and report it. If you sell a vehicle secure the old plate, transfer it to another vehicle or return it to PennDOT to have it removed from the system completely. Need help?
