As the busy holiday season approaches, remember to practice gratitude!

Gratitude helps improve mental health and helps promote positivity in many aspects of life.

Don't just think it, say it!

Who are you grateful for today?
What are you grateful for today?
What is something you did over the weekend you are grateful for?
Who is someone you spent time with, that you are grateful for?

When things get heavy, know you are not alone!

CYBHI (Children Youth Behavioral Health Initiative) launches a new program!!! https://takespacetopause.org/

Through the CA Dept of Health, "Take Space to Pause" is a new platform that highlights the importance of taking time to pause to activate our calming system.

"Take Space to Pause" teaches how stress can affect the body, how to recognize stress, it has plenty of resources, and you can get a personalized "Pause Plan" when you click the "Create a Pause Plan" button! Just screenshot it when done (I did mine!)

It's important to take care of yourself and your mental health - so, remember: Take Space to Pause!

"When traumatic things happen to us as kids we can develop something doctors call Toxic Stress. It’s where stress builds up and has physical and mental effects on our body. Even worse, it can make it harder to nurture our own kids, sometimes repeating this cycle of trauma. By recognizing what's going on and taking steps to treat toxic stress, you can break the cycle for yourself and for your kids, so they grow up to be successful, healthy and strong."

Northern United Charter Schools (Yreka) partnered with Siskiyou County Behavioral Health for their "May It Forward" community service project last week and we had a great time!

Students learned about outreach and created beautiful artwork to help promote mental health and spruce up our children's waiting area. They learned about the importance of mental health, how mental health can be affected due to lack of basic needs, the different services available and how to access them.

Students and staff got an opportunity to learn about outreach methods; they created shirts, pinwheels, and helped to create an inviting space with uplifting motivational decorations (including a balloon arch). Students and staff also met some of our providers and learned about their roles and the layers of support in the social services realm.

It was a pleasure to have them visit and a treasure to know that the importance of mental health is recognized among our youth, creating the ripple effects for our future! Thank you, Northen United Charter School, I'm very grateful to have had this opportunity to partner for May It Forward 2025!!
