We had an enthusiastic crowd to hear about CHP history from Byran Duncan at the Jan. Siskiyou Stories. Many more great presentations to come for 2020! Coming up in Feb.: "A Family's Siskiyou Mining History 1935-1988." Eric Harms will share stories and photos from Larsen and Harms company dredging operations. Feb. 14 at noon Siskiyou County Museum.
Had a wonderful turn out for the first Siskiyou Stories event of 2020 on the history of the CHP! Next month's Siskiyou Stories will take place in February, on the second Friday! Bring a friend....always FREE and always entertaining and educational. Open to ALL. Friends of the Siskiyou County Museum are working to expand the museum's ability to serve our county! Stop by and visit our Friends' Museum Store. Check out the research room; check out the new exhibits, including the Aviation exhibit. And join the Friends of Siskiyou Museum for only $10 a year. We are busy creating a great lineup of speakers for Siskiyou Stories in 2020. First up on Friday Jan. 10 at noon will be retired CHP officer (and museum volunteer) Byran Duncan speaking on the history of the CA Highway Patrol and their equipment development to meet the changing times, including a "show and tell" exhibit! The photo is of fallen officer Stephen Kent who was shot in downtown Yreka in 1933.

Who are the Friends???
Friends of the Siskiyou County Museum, Yreka, California, was founded in 2017 as a group of volunteers who wanted to help our local museum. Friends of the Sisk. Co. Museum is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping our local museum in reaching out to families, students, tourists, and locals through volunteerism, programs, projects, special exhibits, and displays. We want to bring HISTORY to life for many who have rarely stepped into a museum or for those looking to do research. Dues are only $10 per year. General meetings held the second Friday of each month, at 1:15 at the museum on N. Main Street, Yreka.
