UPCOMING KING TIDE: October 24-30, 2026
🌊 What Are King Tides?
“King Tides” are the highest tides of the year. They happen a few times annually when the sun, moon, and Earth align in a way that pulls ocean water farther inland than normal.
📅 When Do They Happen?
King Tides usually occur during the fall and winter months, especially when a new or full moon coincides with the Earth being closest to the sun.
⚠️ Why Do They Matter?
These extreme high tides can cause coastal flooding, especially in low-lying areas, and may impact roads, homes, and infrastructure. Even on clear, sunny days, King Tides can make water levels rise higher than expected.
✅ Safety Tips:
Avoid driving through flooded roadways
Stay alert for road closures and advisories from local officials
Never allow children to play in or near floodwater
Stay informed and stay safe, Nassau!

Northeast Florida Fair Postpones Opening Until Friday, October 9 at 5:00 PM

Callahan, Florida — The Northeast Florida Fair Association has made the decision to officially postpone the opening of the 2026 Northeast Florida Fair until 5:00 PM on Friday, October 9, due to continued inclement weather and rain-related setup conditions.

The Fair was originally scheduled to open Thursday, October 8. Continued rainfall has impacted midway setup and ground conditions, making it necessary to delay public opening by one day.

The 2026 Northeast Florida Fair will now operate October 9 through October 18. The Fair will not be extended by an additional day to make up for the delayed opening.

While the Fair will remain closed to the public on Thursday, October 8, several previously scheduled operational activities will continue as planned.

Food vendors are still required to be on site Thursday for their mandatory State of Florida inspections at their previously scheduled inspection times.

Livestock load-in will also continue as originally scheduled. Exhibitors should follow their previously provided arrival and load-in instructions.

All entertainment and public programming scheduled for Thursday, October 8 has been canceled due to the delayed opening. Entertainment will resume its normal published schedule beginning Friday, October 9.

Fair crews, volunteers, vendors, exhibitors, midway personnel, and staff will continue working throughout Thursday to prepare the grounds for Friday evening’s opening.

“While we never want to delay opening day, our priority has to be making sure the grounds and midway are ready to safely welcome our community,” said Northeast Florida Fair Venue Manager Alicia Head. “There are so many moving parts behind the scenes, and we appreciate the patience and cooperation of our vendors, exhibitors, entertainers, volunteers, and fairgoers as we make the adjustments needed to open Friday.”

The Northeast Florida Fair will officially welcome fairgoers beginning at 5:00 PM Friday, October 9.

The 2026 Northeast Florida Fair is celebrating its 79th year with the theme, “Southern Nights & Fairground Lights — Celebrating 250 Years of American Traditions.”

Additional updates and information will be shared through the Northeast Florida Fair’s official website and social media channels.
