Is there a data center being proposed near your water system? Are you frightened, or, is your interest peaked? In truth, whether a data center is a net positive or negative for your system is more case dependent than anything else. Could you water/wastewater system hand the extra load and thus benefit from the revenue. Would the data centers construction negatively effect your electrical utility rates? How would it effect the opinions and livelihood of the local community, etc. etc.
It's a multifaceted issue and it deserves answers from a diverse set of opinions. That's why ORWA is hosting the Data Center Panel Discussion at our upcoming 2026 Fall Operator Expo. This panel will allow guest to ask questions about data centers from a diverse group of individuals. Including representatives from: Black and Veatch, Delaware County Utilities, and the Ohio Environmental Council. These individuals will be able to answer your engineering, operations, and legal questions about data center, and help you make an informed decision for your community. It's an opportunity you don't want to miss. See it on Monday, October 20th, at Cherry Valley Hotel in Newark, Ohio.
