Child Development Services - Lakeshore Head Start We offer many early childhood education programs to promote health and education for children and fam

Since 1966 CDS has been committed to providing the children and families of Ottawa and Northern Allegan counties with services that help them prepare for their future. Our multiple programs feature research-based curricula designed to teach children the learning and social skills they need to achieve kindergarten readiness. All of our teachers are professionally qualified for preschool education and our dedicated staff work hard to provide a safe and culturally sensitive environment. Family Engagement

We encourage family engagement within our programs as well as offering
volunteering opportunities for parents in the form of positions on the Policy Council,
Health Advisory, or Education Advisory committees. Parents are also encouraged
to volunteer to help in the classroom or on field trips. Spanish Speaking Families

All of our programs are designed to accommodate Spanish speaking children and
families. Many of our staff members are fluent in Spanish including our classroom
assistants who can attend to the needs of children raised in Spanish speaking
households.

🎉 Celebrating the Opening of North Holland Head Start! 🎉
We were excited to celebrate the opening of our new North Holland Head Start site with a special ribbon-cutting ceremony!
It was wonderful to have community members, board members, our partners from the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP), and Michigan State Representative Nancy DeBoer join us for this exciting milestone.
We are grateful for the continued support of our community and the partnerships that help us provide quality early childhood education and opportunities for children and families to learn, grow, and thrive.
A special thank you to our families for your patience, understanding, and flexibility throughout this lengthy process. We know it has been a long journey, and we truly appreciate your continued trust and support as we worked to make this new location a reality.
❤️ Here's to new beginnings, strong partnerships, and bright futures for the children and families we serve!

Head Start has never been just a program. It’s a community.

For 61 years, that community has shown up, for children learning to read, for parents pursuing an education or a new job, and for families navigating hard seasons. Teachers stayed late, neighbors volunteered, and staff treated every child like their own.

That’s what makes Head Start strong: people coming together for each other, year after year. As the United States celebrates 250 years, the same spirit of togetherness continues to carry Head Start forward. 🇺🇸
