Maritime Administration 4th Annual Essay Competition | You are invited to participate

The St. Vincent and the Grenadines Department of Maritime Administration hosted its Third Annual World Maritime Day Essay Competition to commemorate World Maritime Day on 28th September 2023 under the theme “MARPOL AT 50 – Our commitment goes on”. The theme highlights the International Convention for the Prevention of Pollution from Ships (MARPOL).

World Maritime Day is recognized every year by the maritime world on the last Thursday of September, it is used to focus attention on the importance of shipping safety, maritime security, and marine environmental protection, and to emphasize a particular aspect of the International Maritime Organisation’s (IMO) work.

The Department of Maritime Administration took this opportunity to join the world in the commemoration of World Maritime Day and to raise awareness and highlight the work of the Maritime Administration and the maritime industry within St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

A prize-giving ceremony was held on 4th October 2023 at the Fisheries Conference Room. Awards were presented to the top three winners in each category.
