Department of Labor’s Skills for Today workforce development program was born of necessity and aims to invest in the future of U.S. The territory’s tourism reliant economy experienced vast infrastructure destruction caused by Hurricanes Irma and Maria in 2017, which heavily impacted the tourism sector. Through the Skills for Today workforce development program eligible applicants will have the opportunity to commit themselves to a variety of skilled professions with the intent of earning certifications in the applicable skill set and potentially direct employment. These services are rendered FREE to eligible applicants and funded in part from the territory's $1 billion recovery efforts. The opportunities for applicants are in the following fields: construction, health care, information technology, cybersecurity, hospitality, and marine services. For more information about the opportunities provided within each field navigate to the Skills for Today ‘Services’ tab located at the top of the program’s page. Those seeking to apply for training and certification in an aforementioned field can click the ‘Sign Up’ button located to the top right of the Skills for Today page. When filling out the online application, applicants should select their field of interest. Once submitted, a team member will contact you to assist with the process.
