On Thursday morning Ghanaian artist and St. Thomas resident Masaudou Abdul Rahman presented Governor Albert Bryan Jr with a framed charcoal on paper portrait of the Governor that he drew.
Rahman, whose artwork (Cliscott Arts) has been featured widely on social media, said he was inspired to create the portrait after reading about Governor Bryan’s recent trip to Ghana.
“That trip was amazing,” Governor Bryan said. “Realizing that the people of Ghana and the Virgin Islands are really one people and seeing that you’ve taken the time out to do this, I really appreciate it.”

Governor Albert Bryan Jr. and Virgin Islands Office of Disaster Recovery Director Adrienne L. Williams-Octalien walked through the new Arthur A. Richards K-8 School on Wednesday, getting a firsthand look at the progress on one of the most important education projects moving forward in the Virgin Islands.

This state-of-the-art campus will open to students in August, and is one of 13 schools across the Virgin Islands being rebuilt or modernized under the Bryan-Roach Administration.

For the students who will walk these halls in August, this is more than a new building. It is a promise being kept.

For We Are Grateful.

This morning on St. Croix, the Office of Veterans Affairs-US Virgin Islands, in collaboration with the American Legion, gathered to honor the men and women who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our nation.

St. Croix Administrator Sammuel Sanes represented Governor Albert Bryan Jr. during the ceremony, which included the reading of the names of deceased veterans, the placing of wreaths, and moments of reflection and remembrance.

As their names were called, we were reminded that freedom has never been free. Today, we honor their service, their sacrifice, and their memory.

25/05/2026

There are freedoms we enjoy every day that came at a cost most of us will never fully know.

On Memorial Day, we pause not to celebrate war, but to remember those who never came home. We honor the brave men and women who answered the call to serve and gave their lives in defense of our nation and the ideals we hold dear.

Their sacrifice was not measured only on distant battlefields. It is measured in the birthdays they missed, the families they left behind, the dreams they never had the opportunity to fulfill, and the future they secured for generations they would never meet.

This year, as we observe Memorial Day under the theme “For We Are Grateful,” we are reminded that gratitude is more than words. It is a commitment to remember. It is a promise that the lives of our fallen heroes will not fade from our collective memory.

Here in the Virgin Islands, we pay special tribute to the sons and daughters of these islands who wore the uniform of our nation with honor, courage, and pride. Their legacy lives on in the freedoms we enjoy, the opportunities we pursue, and the communities we continue to build.

As we gather with family and friends, attend ceremonies, visit memorials, or simply observe a moment of quiet reflection, let us remember those whose sacrifice made our way of life possible.

To the families who carry the weight of that loss every day, know that your loved ones are remembered, honored, and deeply appreciated by a grateful Territory.

Today, and always, we remember.

For we are grateful.
