It’s Children’s Mental Health Awareness Week, a time to recognize that mental wellness is just as important as physical health for our kids and teens. 💚

Through the Virgin Islands Child Psychiatry Access Program's free telehealth consultation line, we’re here to support the pediatric providers who care for our youth every day. Our team connects primary care doctors with a certified child & adolescent psychiatrist to help answer mental health questions and guide families to the right resources, quickly and compassionately.

Because early support saves lives.
Because no provider should feel alone.
Because every child deserves mental health care they can access and trust.

Together, we’re building a stronger, healthier future.

💙🦋 Today is Children’s Grief Awareness Day, a time to recognize the impact that the loss of a loved one has on children and the importance of support in their healing process. Observed annually on the third Thursday in November, this day reminds us that grief often lasts longer and feels deeper than we may realize.

This year’s theme, “Here for Each Other,” highlights the power of community and connection in helping grieving children navigate their pain. Together, we can ensure they don’t have to face their journey alone. Whether you’re grieving or supporting someone who is, remember that being present and offering understanding can make all the difference.

Let’s work to create a world where no child has to grieve alone. For more information and resources, check out this guide from the Highmark Caring Place.

🌟 We’re Back with an Update! 🌟

We know it’s been a while since we last posted, but the School Based Mental Health team has been busy this summer with some incredible mental health outreach at various summer camps while training school monitors. Here’s a quick look at what we’ve been up to:

🔹 Hygiene Talks: We held important discussions for both males and females on understanding their bodies and mental health. Topics included anatomy, puberty, hygiene, sexual health, and menstrual health.

🔹 Career Development: We helped connect mental health to career choices, showing young children the importance of community roles like police officers and their police dogs.

🔹 Physical Fitness: We explored how boxing can improve both physical fitness and mental health.

🔹 Art & Mental Health: We used creative expression as a way to enhance emotional well-being.

🔹 Financial Literacy: We taught campers how making informed financial decisions can promote positive mental health.

🔹 Music & Mental Health: We showed the power of music in improving emotional and psychological well-being.

🔹 Mindfulness Practices: We introduced mindfulness movements to enhance mental well-being.

🔹 Readings & Discussions: We read books focused on Health and safety topics that matter most to our community.

🔹 Culinary Techniques: We taught basic cooking skills while connecting them to mental health.

We had an amazing time working with these wonderful kids, and we can’t wait to continue building on these important lessons.

Check out some of the highlights from this summer below! 📸
