Tried to lower our flag to half mast to honor the passing of President Bush, but once again it appears the halyard is frozen at the top. Happens every winter. . . Anyone have a solution for this?

Rather disenheartened to hear of a post at another popular local page, about how "WIMPY" the rifle salute sounded at the Memorial Day ceremony. For those that are interested, we fire our salutes using AR 15 rifles, a civilian version of the military M 16 which came out during the Vietnam war. This rifle fires a .223/556 NATO cartridge, and is smaller, and quiter than the older 7.62, or 30/06 cartridge used in the older rifles. Using the smaller, quieter round is easier on the audiences at events such as this, as well as at the veterans funerals where we provide our services, not to mention the fact that our firing is often done in urban environments. We strive to provide a quality service to our veterans veterans families, and to the general public, to the best of our abilities.

Just received the news this afternoon that 72 year member, Kenny Dunlap has passed away. Funeral will be at First Lutheran Church 2pm Friday May 25th. Military honors by Post 14 Honor Guard, and the Army Natioal Guard.

Our regular meetings are held at Lazy Jack's on the 4th Thursday of each month.

26 May: Scouts and volunteers will be placing american flags at veterans graves at Greenwood Cemetery. Usually start around 9am.

28 May: Memorial Day Program at Greenwood Cemetery, 10:30am.

3 June: ANNUAL RIDE FOR THE TROOPS. Market Place parking lot. 9am.

14 June: Flag Day at Ralph Gracie Memorial Park, across the street from Bangsburg hall BSU. 12PM

1 July: Bemidji 4th of July parade.

Replaced the broken halyard and put up new flags at Lazy Jack's. Don't recommend that job for the faint of heart. Yes, I did move the POW flag up closer to the American flag.
