I'd say I miss life as it was... but isn't this part n parcel of it all too? the sweet n sour, exhilations and despondence... a melting pot of it all

I've never been much of a celebratory or festive kinda person, and own birthday has never been much of a special occasion to me, but being a ridiculously sentimental human bean I still gotta write a lil chunk here.
The clock is ticking, people constantly cross paths, move on from phase to phase, but through the laughters and the tears, the achievements and the struggles, the heartfelt conversations and the superficial exchanges - the memories, growth and lessons learnt stay in an abstract space deep down in one's soul.
The past 13 months living abroad has been an incredible period of exponential x everything, growing so so much through this whole time and being so friking blessed to have met so many wonderful souls that has made me felt like home everywhere I went.
So thank you for being part of one another's journey, I'm so excited for all that's yet to come

Momento mori - "remember you must die": with the universal inescapable commonality from the beginning of time to the end, it doesn't mean to strike morbid fear. Death does not make life pointless but rather purposeful, it is indeed a reminder to continue living a life of virtue from every moment on.
Seneca urged in his Moral Letters to Lucilius, “Let us prepare our minds as if we’d come to the very end of life. Let us postpone nothing. Let us balance life’s books each day… The one who puts the finishing touches on their life each day is never short of time.”
