‼️Govt Moving Ahead With Revised Supreme Court Hall of Justice‼️

Port Vila, Vanuatu - February 24th, 2026 — The Vanuatu Government is making progress on the long-awaited Supreme Court Hall of Justice building project, adapting to current economic realities with a revised design that balances ambition with practicality.

Initially approved with a focus on reflecting the country’s Melanesian values, the project is now being refined to ensure its timely delivery.

The Vanuatu Project Management Unit (VPMU), which comes under the Office of the Prime Minister is managing the implementation of the project in close consultation with the Chief Justice Vincent Lunabek and his judiciary team.

The revised design includes a two-level building with essential facilities including one Appeals Court, two Criminal Courts, two Civil Courts, eight Judges Chambers, library and meeting rooms, and few workstation areas.

The VPMU is now preparing for early earthworks and site preparations, with a Request for Quotation (RFQ) currently under evaluation process. The Contract award for construction is expected by mid-year, with construction expected to follow.

Prime Minister Jotham Napat met again today with VPMU and the Chief Justice to review progress. He says that as the country marches to its 50th anniversary by 2030, it is important that such a pillar building is completed before then💪💥🙏
