National Building Code Review and Upgrade!

The Vanuatu National Building Code is in the process of review since its last review in the year 2000. The Pacific Region Infrastructure Facility (PRIF) in collaboration with the Department of Urban Affairs and Planning along with the PWD have started this journey this week by grouping relevant government agencies and private sectors to a workshop on Monday 14th October 2024 at the Ramada to get feedbacks and way forwards on the review of this NBC.

The purpose of of this review is that the code since its last review in 2000 might have some parts that may be outdated with technology advancement, climate change, weather pattern and other related factors that could hinder the code and those using it.

The PRIF has engaged a few consultants from overseas and few local consultants who are technical in areas of mechnaical, electricity, structural, legal and water and sanitation aspects that will work with the two Ministries to review the NBC.
