In September 2025, Fabio D'Elfant, a young Dutch man, together with his friends, visited the beautiful Valbona Peaks in Albania. Tragically, following a mountain accident, he lost his life.

During the rescue operation, the Kosovo Mountain Search and Rescue Service demonstrated exceptional professionalism, dedication, and humanity in their efforts to save him. However, the accident proved fatal.

Fabio's father and stepmother are visiting Kosovo these days, and they met with members of the Kosovo Search and Rescue Team at the premises of the Dutch Embassy in Pristina. The meeting was emotional. A deep conversation about the mission, and Fabio's memories were present in the room.

In recognition of the invaluable work carried out by the Kosovo Search and Rescue Team, the family of Fabio succeeded in raising 10,500 Euro through crowdfunding, which they donated to support the team's voluntary activities and future rescue missions.

This gesture stands as a powerful expression of solidarity, compassion, and the extraordinary commitment of those who risk their lives to help others.
