IPA CBC Programme Kosovo - North Macedonia 2021 - 2027

The EU is further strengthening cross-border cooperation between Kosovo and North Macedonia through six newly awarded projects bringing tangible results and improving people’s livelihood while promoting sustainability, growth, energy efficiency and environmental protection for local communities. 🤝🌱

With €3.24 million in EU funding, these initiatives will considerably improve living conditions of citizens in the villages, towns and areas across the Kosovo – North Macedonia border region.

The awarded grants are:
💧 BNS – BIO NATURAL SOLUTION wastewater management and water protection (Mamuşa/Mamushë/Mamuša & Bogovinja)
♻️ REDUCE – Joint Efforts in Waste Reduction and Sustainability (Ranilug/Ranillug & Skopje)
⛰️ Every Step Counts – eco-tourism for environmental protection in the Sharr/Šar Mountains
🍇 Sustainable and Competitive Wine Industry Initiative (Rahovec/Orahovac, Gazi Baba, Gostivar & Mavrovo)
🏫 Green Schools Initiative (Ferizaj/Uroševac & Brvenica)
🌊 No Floods through Active Citizens in the cross-border region (Klokot/Kllokot & Rankovce)

Deputy Head of Cooperation of the EU in Kosovo, Alessandro Bianciardi, alongside caretaker Minister of Local Government Administration of Kosovo, Elbert Krasniqi and the Minister of Local Self-Government of North Macedonia, Zlatko Perinski joined the award ceremony in Pristina.

As Kosovo’s and North Macedonia’s strongest partner, the European Union is committed to continue supporting sustainable development, environmental protection, and more connected communities.

📍 Prishtina, Kosovo | 28 April 2026

On 28 April 2026, the 6th Bilateral Meeting of the CBC Management Structures under the IPA III Cross-Border Cooperation Programme Kosovo – North Macedonia 2021–2027 was successfully held, bringing together key stakeholders to advance the programme’s implementation.

The meeting focused on:
🔹 Preparations for the 2nd Call for Proposals, including concept development, thematic priorities, and available funding
🔹 Engagement with potential applicants through planned workshops and beneficiary meetings
🔹 Initial planning of the Grant Award Ceremony
🔹 Coordination of upcoming ministerial visits to supported projects in both countries
🔹 Development of communication tools, including video tutorials and project brochures

The discussions contributed to strengthening cooperation, improving programme implementation, and ensuring impactful support for cross-border initiatives.

🤝 Strengthening partnerships and building sustainable connections across borders continues to remain at the core of the programme.

On 27 April 2026 in Prishtina, the Joint Monitoring Committee successfully held its 3rd meeting under the IPA III Cross-Border Cooperation Programme 2021–2027.

The meeting brought together key stakeholders to:
1️⃣Present the list of projects proposed for funding under the 1st Call for Proposals
2️⃣Assess the funds utilized and provide advisory input
3️⃣Discuss upcoming initiatives and opportunities for JMC member involvement

The session opened with welcome remarks from JMC leadership and representatives of the EU Office in Kosovo, followed by productive discussions, provision of advisory opinion on list of selected projects for funding and strategic guidance for the next phase of programme implementation.

The meeting reaffirmed the strong commitment to enhancing cross-border cooperation, supporting sustainable development, and strengthening partnerships between Kosovo and North Macedonia.

We successfully concluded our two-day training for grant beneficiaries on Final Reporting within IPA CBC Grant Contracts!

Beneficiaries representing municipalities and civil society organizations from Kosovo and North Macedonia strengthened their skills in financial and narrative reporting through practical sessions and discussions.

Supporting beneficiaries to deliver high-quality final reports and successfully close their projects.

Monitoring visits are at the heart of ensuring our projects deliver real impact on the ground.

Over the past period, our team has been actively visiting project beneficiaries across Kosovo and North Macedonia, engaging directly with partners, reviewing progress, and providing hands-on support where needed. These visits are not only about oversight—they are about building trust, strengthening cooperation, and ensuring that every activity contributes meaningfully to the communities we serve.
