We returned to Blinaja today as the renovated Center for Capacity Building opened its doors. The Center gives forestry professionals the training and tools they need to plan, monitor, manage fires, and protect the forests that shape Kosovo’s future. Eight new field vehicles and updated equipment now support the Kosovo Forestry Agency in its daily work.

We see important progress. New laws, improved data, stronger management plans, and the Forest Information System form a solid base. Together with the EU, we invested 2.5 million euros through the FAO programme to help build these results.

We also see the pressure. Illegal cutting continues and oversight remains limited. These challenges show that tools are not enough. Forest protection depends on strong leadership, stable financing, active communities, and firm rule of law.

After more than twenty years of support, our role is entering a new phase. The foundations are in place and future progress needs national ownership. We stay engaged as a partner in dialogue, while Kosovo’s institutions, private sector, and citizens lead the way.

We ask you to stay involved. Value your forests for their economic, social, and environmental importance. Report illegal activities. Join local efforts. Support those who protect biodiversity and reduce fires.

Your forests matter. Your actions matter.

A more efficient, transparent, and modern way of ensuring safe and fair workplaces in Kosovo is now in place. With support from Sweden, Kosovo has launched the new Electronic Labour Inspection Management System — a digital platform that helps inspectors plan better, work faster, and focus on what matters most: protecting workers and improving working conditions.

The initiative is implemented by the International Labour Organization through the Labour Efficiency Project, funded by Sweden. It marks an important step toward stronger institutions and alignment with European labour standards. 🇽🇰🇪🇺

At the launch event, Ambassador Jonas Westerlund joined representatives from Kosovo’s labour institutions and social partners to mark this milestone and hand over new equipment to inspectors who will use the system in their daily work.

By supporting this reform, 🇸🇪 continues to contribute to safer workplaces, fair competition, and a sustainable economy that benefits everyone.

🌿 Supporting Local Markets, Creating Rural Jobs

Through the SUNREED project, Sweden is helping address market bottlenecks in Kosovo’s green economy, linking producers, improving collection systems, and opening income opportunities for rural communities.

Presenting new SUNREED partnerships:

🍯 In the Prizren region, Bletaria Etniki is expanding honey and chestnut production, improving packaging, and providing environmental education, creating seasonal jobs and engaging youth.

🍓 In Gornje Lubinja, Aldijana Ademi is generating income through the sustainable collection of forest products like raspberries, herbs, and mushrooms, led by rural women.

📦 In Shtërpcë/Strpce, the Scardus Collection Point connects producers across ethnic lines to export products and generate off-season jobs.

These early partnerships are unlocking local value chains and promote inclusive, sustainable growth.

🔗 Financed by the Embassy of Sweden in Pristina, implemented by CNVP Foundation.
