🇸🇽Minister Gumbs Joins Students in Pre-Flag Day Celebrations Across Sint Maarten 🇸🇽
As Sint Maarten prepares to celebrate Flag Day tomorrow, June 13, the Honourable Minister of Education, Culture, Youth and Sport, Ms. Melissa Gumbs, spent the morning visiting schools that hosted pre-Flag Day celebrations, joining students and staff in honouring one of our nation's most important symbols.
The Minister visited Hillside Christian School, Sister Magda Primary School, Sister Marie Laurence Primary School, St. Dominic Primary School, and Ruby D. Labega Primary School, where students proudly displayed their Sint Maarten colours, shared presentations, sang patriotic songs, and waved their flag with pride.
Joining Minister Gumbs throughout the morning's activities were His Excellency Governor Ajamu Baly, President of Parliament Sarah Wescot-Williams, and Members of Parliament Dimar Labega and Christopher Wever, all of whom took the opportunity to engage with students and share in the spirit of national pride.
One of the day's special moments was the presentation of a gift basket to Ms. Roselle Richardson, designer of the Sint Maarten flag, as a token of appreciation for her lasting contribution to the country's identity. Each year, the Ministry takes the opportunity to recognize Ms. Richardson's role in creating one of the nation's most important symbols; a flag that continues to unite and inspire generations of Sint Maarteners.
Minister Gumbs extends her sincere appreciation to the schools, teachers, staff, and students for making the day's activities a success. She also thanks the Department of Culture, which organized the school tour and continues to play an important role in preserving and promoting Sint Maarten's cultural heritage and national identity.
As we celebrate Flag Day tomorrow, the Ministry encourages everyone to wear their red, white, and blue, fly their Sint Maarten flags proudly, and take a moment to reflect on the values of unity, perseverance, and pride that our flag represents.
🇸🇽 Happy Flag Day, Sint Maarten! 🇸🇽
