Photo of a very young Carl Hassell (1886-1973), a son of William James Benjamin Hassell and Elizabeth Hassell. He married twice: first to Madge Hassell (1888-1917) and second to Maud Hassell (1893-1973). From his 1st marriage he had two children: Elaine and Lena Louise.

Gene Hassell, a son of Althea and Alex Hassell and his good friend Sannie Gould, daughter of Cynthia Beatrice Johnson.

They were friends in Aruba since 1976 and remained friends in al those years until he passed away. He was born on the 9th of January 1957 in Aruba, and passed away on April 21st 2021 Aruba.

I recently changed my Primary Care doctor & medical group because I was not satisfied with the diagnosis nor treatment of my elderly body. With so many options in Orlando, Florida I found a group conveniently located, which also provided free transportation so I decided to go with Dedicated Senior Medical Services whom specialize on the 65+ population.

To my surprise, I was assigned to Dr. Ayesha Ahmed who is a Graduate of Saba University School of Medicine. What are the chances with all the options in Orlando, FL to be assisted by this young lady with a Saba connection!!

With the advent of large steam ships the old wooden schooners were challenged to find able seamen to the point that they were stationed at port forced to pay daily berths while waiting for a crew. Capt. Samuel Simmons was one who had to wait for the agents to find a suitable crew.

Agnes Zagers (1902-1989) was one of six children born to Peter George Hassell Zagers and Charlotte Louisa Garruba Johnson. She married Jacob Johnson (1886- # # ?) a son of James Johnson and Peter Helena Every. They married on Saba on April 4 1923, and had two children: Rose Agatha and Vernon Elmo Johnson.

George B. Dowling (1868-1951), son of John Every Dowling and Ann Catherine Hassell.

The only child of WFM Lampe (past Administrator of Saba in the 1920's) and Lena Vanterpool, Sheila Lampe passed away yesterday.

Three months, three days shy of her 95th birthday, she led an incredible life filled with lots of wonderful stories, and many blessings, most especially mothering and grand-mothering her amazing family.

She will be missed terribly...
