Rain is expected across the Los Angeles area this weekend, according to the National Weather Service, with the greatest chance of moderate to locally heavy rain Saturday and Saturday night, followed by lingering rain Sunday.

If you’re heading out for Halloween activities or weekend plans, please prepare for wet conditions.

Possible impacts include:

• Slippery roads and longer travel times
• Localized minor flooding on roads and in parking areas
• Umbrellas and ponchos recommended for Halloween trick-or-treating activities

Rainfall amounts remain uncertain, but the National Weather Service currently expects 0.25 to 1 inch across the region, with higher totals possible in some mountain and foothill areas.

Plan ahead, drive carefully, allow extra time, and use caution in areas where water may collect.

Stay weather aware throughout the weekend and continue monitoring official forecasts for updates.

Happy 90th birthday to Dr. Janet Cameron Hoult!

On Monday, the Culver City City Council honored Dr. Hoult with a commendation recognizing more than five decades of creativity, civic service, and dedication to the community she has called home since 1970.

For years, Dr. Hoult brought poetry into the heart of civic life, opening public comment at City Council meetings with a poem and reminding us of the power of art to bring people together. She went on to serve as Culver City’s Honorary Artist Laureate for Poetry and later Poet Laureate Emerita, while helping champion the creation of the City’s Artist Laureate Program.

Her contributions extend far beyond poetry. Through decades of service to local organizations, committees, and causes, Dr. Hoult has helped shape Culver City with generosity, creativity, and an unwavering commitment to community.

During Monday’s recognition, she also shared a beautiful poem with the Council and community, a fitting moment for someone whose words have been part of Culver City’s story for so many years.

Today, as Dr. Hoult celebrates her 90th birthday, we celebrate her extraordinary life, her lasting contributions, and the spirit behind her cherished motto:
“Keep on keeping on.”

Happy birthday, Dr. Hoult, and thank you for everything you have given to Culver City.
