| 𝐃𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐄𝐱𝐩𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐍𝐮𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫-𝐁𝐚𝐬𝐞𝐝 𝐑&𝐃 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐁𝐮𝐥𝐚𝐜𝐚𝐧’𝐬 𝐒𝐮𝐤𝐚𝐧𝐠 𝐏𝐚𝐨𝐦𝐛𝐨𝐧𝐠

DOST Bulacan, led by PSTD Angelita Parungao, together with representatives from Bulacan State University (BulSU), visited the DOST Philippine Nuclear Research Institute – Nuclear Analytical Techniques Application Section (PNRI NATAS) on May 26, 2026 to explore possible R&D collaboration for testing the authenticity of Bulacan-made vinegars.

The PNRI NATAS, headed by Mr. Raymond Sucgang, would help capacitate BulSU personnel and assist in the establishment of a laboratory that can test whether local vinegars are produced from non-synthetic plant-derived raw materials such as sasa for Sukang Paombong.

Through this initiative, DOST Bulacan continues to strengthen science-based innovation and research partnerships that support local industries, protect product authenticity, and promote the quality and identity of Bulacan’s traditional food products.

| 𝐃𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬 𝐒𝐦𝐚𝐫𝐭 𝐆𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐧𝐡𝐨𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐂𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐬 𝐭𝐡𝐫𝐨𝐮𝐠𝐡 𝐂𝐄𝐒𝐓 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦

DOST Bulacan conducted a turnover and hands-on training on the operation and maintenance of Smart Greenhouse Technology on May 25, 2026, at the Malolos Marine Fishery School and Laboratory (MMFSL) in the City of Malolos, Bulacan.

The activity is part of the DOST Central Luzon’s CEST project, “Cultivate to Educate: Central Luzon Schools Leading the Way in Food Security and Community Nourishment through Agricultural Hubs Promoting Smart and Sustainable Agriculture.”

The smart greenhouse features IoT-enabled environmental monitoring systems that allow users to monitor temperature, humidity, and water management in real time. The facility also integrates automated irrigation and nutrient management systems to promote efficient and sustainable crop production.

The greenhouse will serve as a central production facility for quality seedlings, which will be distributed to other schools in the City of Malolos in support of their school gardens.

Assigned teaching staff of MMFSL were equipped with practical knowledge on smart greenhouse operations and maintenance, including its IoT-based monitoring systems and nutrient management techniques.

Through this initiative, DOST continues to strengthen agricultural education, promote smart and sustainable farming practices among students, and contribute to food security and community resilience through science- and technology-based interventions.

DOST Bulacan continues to conduct series of seminars and technical assistance on Food Safety, Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), and Halal Awareness Programs for MSMEs and organizations in Bulacan during months of January and February 2026.

Participating firms and organizations included:

✔️ 16 MSMEs in Bulacan – Bulacan Packaging Service and Toll Packing Center, Malolos City
✔️ Jedidiah Food Industry – Pulilan, Bulacan

✔️ The Superfoods Grocer Philippines Inc. – Marilao, Bulacan
✔️ Francoeur Merchandising – Plaridel, Bulacan

Through these initiatives, DOST Bulacan continues to support MSMEs by promoting food safety awareness, quality assurance, and industry competitiveness through science, technology, and innovation.
