This Drug & Alcohol resource centre closed in December 2014, after 36 yrs, due to NSW Health funding changes. Western Sydney Drug & Alcohol Resource Centre Inc.

(WESDARC), now trading as Substance.org, is a not-for-profit, non-government organisation using a harm minimisation approach. "Achieving Healthier Communities"
We acknowledge that AOD issues can not be dealt with in isolation, they are derived from, influenced and come to have an impact on by a plethora of other issues including; mental health, family conflict, domestic violence, poverty, peer pressure, relationships and isolation. Therefore a community approach which seeks to achieve healthy lifestyles overall has been adopted.

The service began in 1978 in response to a community need for a specialised alcohol and other drug information service for the community. Previously known as WESDARC (Western Sydney Drug & Alcohol Resource Centre), the orgainisation launched a new trading name and website in October 2010 as "SubstanceOrg."

General information

We have been in operation since 1978, we provide drug and alcohol information, referral services and engage in community development activities and projects. Although we focus our services on our local areas of Penrith, the Blue Mountains and Hawkesbury we are also available to provide information, training and resources further afield.
