It’s Oakland Restaurant Week through March 22, 2026. Experience why Oakland was voted the #1 Food City in the U.S. for two consecutive years in a row by Condé Nast Traveler readers.

Some of my favorite spots in my Grand Lake neighborhood are:

- We just had a delicious dinner of small plates and especially loved the crab cakes, meatballs, and citrus & avocado salad. Shout-out to Chef Rico for the outstanding flavors every time.

- This is one of my fav bars with gorgeous decor, tasty cocktails, and the town’s best cesar salad. Thanks to Seth & Jenni for creating a fabulous experience with every visit. We even took our daughter here for her 21st birthday.

Check out for this year’s Restaurant Week extravaganza.

ICE out of Minneapolis.

ICE out of our communities.

Rest in Peace & Power Alex Pretti.

The lawless violence of ICE and CBP is sickening. These agencies must be held accountable and leave the Twin Cities and all our communities immediately.

Let’s stand together in Alameda County. On Tuesday, the Board of Supervisors can vote to approve our proposals for ICE-Free Zones and a countywide Response Plan.

In this moment of grief and resistance, let’s continue to stand and act together, caring for each other, protecting our communities, and strengthening our collective power through solidarity.

📢This Tuesday, January 27 at 3:30pm, the Alameda County Board of Supervisors will vote on my office’s two immigration proposals for a countywide Response Plan and ICE-Free Zones (Item 51).

Our proposals - bit.ly/ALCOImmigrationProposals (link in bio)

✊ Countywide Immigration Enforcement Response Plan: Directing the County Administrator to create a coordinated plan that details rapid-response protocols among County agencies, community partners, and government entities to protect individual rights, ensure access to services, and promote public safety. This plan includes staff training, public communication strategies, and measures to safeguard access to County services, courts, hospitals, and healthcare facilities.

✊ County Policy Establishing “ICE-Free Zones”: Prohibiting the use of County-owned or County-controlled properties, including parking lots, vacant lots, garages, or nonpublic areas of buildings for staging areas, processing locations, or operations bases for the purpose of civil immigration enforcement. The policy would require clear signage, physical barriers where appropriate, and consistent procedures for implementation and enforcement.

Wishing all a joyous Kwanzaa as we begin the week-long celebration of African-American and Pan-African history, values, family, community, and culture, and reflect on the seven principles of unity, self-determination, collective work, cooperative economics, purpose, creativity, and faith.

On Monday, join the Alameda County Reparations Commission for a special community event honoring the spirit of Kwanzaa and uplifting local voices. Come learn, share, and connect as we celebrate culture, community, and collective growth. Free food and beverages will be provided. All are welcome!
