The UCLA Labor Center’s Asian American Racial Justice (AARJ) Project, in partnership with the UCLA – JLWC Nonviolent Education Project (NVEP), Asian Pacific American Labor Alliance Los Angeles Chapter (APALA LA), and IATSE TAG 839, will be hosting a Nonviolence Direct Action Training on Friday, March 13th, from 6:30–8:30 PM (location provided upon RSVP).
Building on the momentum of last July’s historic mass training led by the late Kent Wong and LA Federation President Yvonne Wheeler, this gathering is both a continuation and a renewed commitment. At a time when unions and community organizations are being called to mobilize more urgently to defend workers’ and immigrant rights, we must grow the number of labor and community activists prepared to participate in principled, disciplined, and effective nonviolent direct action. Together, we will explore how to transform pain, anger, and hope into strategic, peaceful collective action rooted in dignity and purpose.
