CENREO DISTRICT II Recognizes 12th Marine Battalion as Environmental Partners

June 30, 2026 : CENREO District II Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Energy Tawi-Tawi— led by CENRE Officer Abdulmukim J. Maruji, has formally awarded a plaque of recognition to the 12th Marine R***e Battalion for its invaluable support in environmental protection and conservation in the community last June 16, 2026 at MENRE Tawi-Tawi Conference Hall, Bongao Tawi-Tawi.

Under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Ceasar Ryan Gandeza, the Battalion works closely with the Ministry through CENRE Office District 2 to safeguard the community’s forests, watersheds, and natural resources. Operating in remote and often high‑risk areas, the troops stand on the frontlines to stop illegal logging, timber smuggling, and other destructive activities.

Their operations have led to the seizure of illegal timber and the protection of vital ecosystems. This recognition strengthens the partnership between the Ministry and the military, sending a clear message that environmental violations will be met with firm and coordinated action.

The 12th Marine R***e Battalion has proven itself not only as defenders of peace and order but also as trusted allies in preserving the community’s natural heritage.
