In October, we joined Namibia in mourning the passing of former First Lady Penehupifo Pohamba, strengthened collaboration through the WISER Action First workshop, and celebrated international friendship and cultural exchange at the Diplomatic Fair.

Here’s a look back at some of our October moments.

Earlier this month, stakeholders from across Namibia came together through the UK-funded WISER ActionFirst initiative to strengthen action-based forecasting and early warning systems. The workshop brought together meteorological experts, disaster risk practitioners, government partners and users of climate information to identify practical ways to ensure weather forecasts lead to timely action before hazards strike.

Through WISER ActionFirst, partners are working to turn weather and climate information into decisions that help communities prepare for floods, droughts, storms and other climate-related risks. By co-producing warnings with the people who use them, the initiative supports more effective, inclusive and people-centred early warning systems.

Today, High Commissioner Neil Bradley and colleagues from UK in Namibia were pleased to welcome Hazel de Klerk from Let's Talk Psychologists for a discussion on mental wellbeing, resilience and the importance of creating spaces where people feel supported and empowered to seek help when they need it.

Hazel reminded us that prioritising mental health is essential to building healthy, supportive workplaces where people feel valued, connected and empowered to perform at their best. Investing in mental wellbeing strengthens not only individuals, but also teams, organisations and communities.

Thank you, Hazel, for an insightful and thought-provoking session, and for helping us continue important conversations around mental health and wellbeing.
