Recent media coverage has highlighted the experiences of women facing discrimination during pregnancy and when returning to work.

Everyone deserves a fair and inclusive workplace where pregnancy or breastfeeding does not limit their opportunities to participate, contribute and progress.

In NSW, it is against the law to discriminate against someone because they are pregnant or breastfeeding.

This National Carers Week, we are recognising the carers in our community: family members, friends, neighbours and colleagues who provide care and support every day.

Did you know that in NSW carers discrimination is against the law at work?

It is when you are treated less favourably than someone else because of your responsibilities caring for a child, a person you are a guardian for, or a family member.

If you need information or want to make a complaint, you can reach out to Anti-Discrimination NSW:

Anti-Discrimination NSW recently made a submission to the NSW Parliament's inquiry into the Human Rights Bill 2025.

In our submission, we highlight opportunities to strengthen human rights protections in NSW and share our expertise in complaints handling, anti-discrimination law and access to justice. We also provide recommendations on the proposed human rights framework, including the role of a future NSW Human Rights Commission and how the framework would interact with existing anti-discrimination protections.
