***OUTDATED*** Earlier this afternoon, Tropical Depression Fourteen was upgraded to Tropical Storm Milton! What does that mean for us? It is still difficult to say as we are in the very early stages of formation of Milton, and confidence in Milton's impact on the Florida Keys will increase by tomorrow when we can get more information.

HOWEVER, the overall pattern leads us to continue to expect a very wet Sunday and Monday well ahead of Milton's arrival to the west coast of the Florida Peninsula mid week. Over the next few days, the island chain could see rainfall amounts of roughly 3 to 6 inches, with locally higher amounts (depending on where heavier showers may pass through).

Tuesday afternoon update. Seems like Helene is going track far enough west to keep the Upper Keys out of the sustained heavy stuff. Probably a good idea to anticipate some gnarly squall lines as the bands pass through over the next couple of days. Don’t let those trash cans blow away.

Heads up Upper Keys. Please continue to watch the forecast and monitor for changes in the storm track. Consider taking a lap of your property and your moorings to ensure things are secured for gusty winds.

Friendly reminder that the Swim for Alligator Reef is tomorrow morning from 7:30a until mid-afternoon. The USCG Patrol Commander (PATCOM) will collapse the zone around the Alligator Reef SPA once the event participants move inshore after rounding the lighthouse. This likely will not be until after 1p.

You can reach PATCOM on VHF-16 if you have questions.

No vessels will be permitted in the SPA during the event except for authorized safety and support vessels.
