Today we commemorate Walter Rodney 46 years ago today he was assassinated and it is important to note exactly why. He was killed because he was organising, and because the Working People’s Alliance together the Indo- and Afro-Guyanese workers whose division was the whole basis of the capitalist rule in Guyana.

Pop The CIA and Britain had spent the early 1960s breaking Cheddi Jagan’s elected government through funded strikes and engineered unrest, because Washington would not tolerate a Marxist in power in the hemisphere the same way they fought against Cuba and other examples of socialist experiments in Latin America.

His works such as How Europe Underdeveloped Africa remains vital reads for everyone.

This June we remember that Pride was built through working class solidarity and has been defended the same way ever since. From Mark Ashton and the LGSM in 1984 to today.

LGBT Liberation not Rainbow Capitalism.

⛑️Today is International Workers’ Memorial Day. 28 April. The day we remember every worker killed, injured, or made ill by their job.

Engels called it social murder in 1845. Capitalism is a machine oiled by the blood of workers literally and it has been from the start. The bosses cut corners, the regulators look away, the politicians gut enforcement, and workers pay with their lungs, their backs, their lives.

Every safety law was won by trade unionists who refused to let workers die in silence. The bosses didn’t give us anything. We took it. And they want it back.

Remember the dead. Fight for the living.

156 years since the birth of Lenin.

Theorist of revolution, leader of the October insurrection, architect of the first workers’ state.

His work is not a museum piece. It’s a weapon.

Read him, study him, apply him.

🌍 On this Earth Day, we don’t need corporate tree-planting or another UN target that gets missed. We need what the working class gave us on 24 April 1932, when 400 ramblers led by YCL member Benny Rothman trespassed on Kinder Scout to reclaim land the landlords had enclosed. Six were arrested. Five were jailed. The movement they built forced open the right to roam.

Partial victories. The fight continues.

40% of Black British people live in neighbourhoods with the least access to green space. Only 13% of white people do. 28% of people in the most deprived areas are locked out entirely. This isn’t an accident. It’s the logic of a system that treats nature as a commodity and working people as disposable.

The ruling class enclosed the land. Austerity sold off what we won back. Climate breakdown will hit the same communities hardest.
Earth Day was born from struggle.

Take it back.
