LEAF & LIMB COLLECTION
The City of Findlay will collect leaves and limbs from November 16 through December 4. City employees will collect leaves placed at the curb in biodegradable PAPER bags and limbs placed beside them. Plastic bags and loose leaves will not be collected. Leaves and limbs will be picked up separately.
Crews will begin collecting leaves on November 16 and will make several rounds throughout the City through December 4. There is no specific collection schedule by location.
Biodegradable paper bags are readily available at local hardware stores, building supply stores, and some grocery stores.
KEEP LEAVES OUT OF THE STREET
Raking or blowing leaves into the street creates several safety and maintenance concerns. Leaf piles can be a dangerous temptation for children who like to play in them. In many areas, leaf piles reduce traffic to one lane or force drivers to move into oncoming traffic to avoid them.
Piled leaves can also wash into and clog storm sewers, creating maintenance issues and potentially causing localized flooding during storms.
Residents who blow or rake leaves onto City streets violate the long-standing City Codified Ordinance 311.01(d). Complaints should be forwarded to the Police Department.
