Navy Wounded Warrior is an official Department of the Navy program within the CNIC command. With good food and great company, we grow stronger together! 🍳🔥

In Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, we recently partnered with Chaplains Religious Enrichment Development Operation (CREDO) to host a first-of-its-kind, two-day Marriage Enrichment Workshop for recovering service members and their spouses.

Couples had the opportunity to strengthen their relationships, reconnect, and spend meaningful time together while learning tools they can carry with them beyond the workshop. It wasn’t all classroom time! Each day included a hands-on cooking class for lunch where couples learned new techniques, shared some laughs, and enjoyed their creations.

Navy Wounded Warrior ensures no one sails alone. Providing couples space to step away from the everyday routine, focus on one another, and learn something together adds some levity in the midst of navigating to a new normal as a team.

Want to join us for a future program? If you or a Sailor or Coast Guardsman you know is facing a life-changing or career-altering diagnosis or condition, contact us to help them find peace of mind and concrete guidance for what comes next. In Navy Region Southwest, Navy Wounded Warrior participated in Colors of Courage Chalk the Walk Events at Naval Base Ventura County and Naval Base San Diego for Su***de Prevention Awareness Month.

Chalk the Walk is a meaningful su***de prevention awareness event designed to bring people together, spark important conversations, and remind our service members that they are never alone. Every message of hope, encouragement, and support written along the walk reminds us that every life matters and that help is available.

Often, a person struggling with mental health or thoughts of su***de fights a silent battle right next to us; they may even feel invisible. A single encouraging word, a colorful drawing, or a simple phrase can change the trajectory of someone's day.

Su***de remains a serious public health concern. The greatest weapon against it is breaking the silence.

Today for World Su***de Prevention Day, we share testimony from Logistics Specialist First Class Matthew Leon on his journey and the help he found through the Circle of Support virtual peer-to-peer group.

Navy Wounded Warrior's Circle of Support virtual peer group is a safe, judgement-free space where Sailors and Coast Guardsmen can freely express their thoughts and feelings about how su***de or suicidal ideation has impacted them in a space where they will be understood, respected, and held in confidence.

Monthly virtual meetings are guided by trained counselors and have become another critical resource within the Navy's Shore Enterprise to support for the Fleet's mental health and quality of service. As such, enrollment in Navy Wounded Warrior is not required for participation, enabling warfighters to participate wherever they are.

In Navy Region Mid-Atlantic, Navy Wounded Warrior hosted a pop-up event at Motor World*, where our recovering service members spent the evening racing around the go-kart track, sharing some laughs, and enjoying a little friendly competition!

Navy Wounded Warrior provides numerous recreational opportunities throughout the year that give recovering service members a chance to relax, mentally decompress, and build community with other wounded, ill, and injured Sailors and Coast Guardsmen. Events like this are about getting out, trying something different, and remembering that a new normal should still include fun.

Interested in joining us for a future event? Reach out to your Navy Wounded Warrior care team to learn more about upcoming recreational opportunities in your region.

Earlier this Summer in Navy Region Northwest, staff and recovering service members were invited to the Poulsbo Yacht Club* in Poulsbo, Wa., to receive handmade quilts, generously sewn by Club members specifically for the Sailors and Coast Guardsmen enrolled in Navy Wounded Warrior. Some of the 2026 Team Navy Competitors who recently returned from San Antonio shared their stories during a hosted dinner to impart the impact the program had on them, their families' lives, and their overall quality of service. After all, mission readiness starts at home.

As part of Command, Navy Installation Command, Navy Wounded Warrior supports fleet, fighter, and family from the shore with unmatched quality of service. What happens when you combine community, courage, and a few waves? An unforgettable weekend! In Navy Region Southeast, wounded warriors traveled from as far as Texas and Georgia to come together for an Adaptive Surf Retreat in Mayport, Fla. 🏄‍♀️

These 15 warriors did not allow their conditions to dictate their limits and challenged themselves to try something new, some surfing for the first time. With specialized equipment designed to meet their needs, they learned the fundamentals of water safety, paddling, and wave timing, and balancing. More importantly, there was laughter, friendship, connection, and confidence. Their shared memories will be carried long after leaving the beach. 🌊
