Following the successful completion of Exercise Pitch Black 26 in Australia 🇦🇺✈️, the German Air Force is making its way back home 🇩🇪 with another important stopover in Malaysia 🇲🇾.

On 7th August the first German aircraft arrived at Subang Air Base, Malaysia 🛬, followed by six 🚀, two tankers and two more A400M, as part of their return from Australia to Germany.

Sharing the ramp space at Subang with our partner Air Forces from Spain 🇪🇸 and India 🇮🇳, this stopover underlines the importance of reliable international partnership 🤝 in enabling complex, long-range deployments across the Indo-Pacific 🌏.

We would like to extend our sincere appreciation to the Royal Malaysian Air Force Royal Malaysian Air Force for once again facilitating the stopover and providing outstanding support to our personnel and aircraft 🛠️. The professionalism and hospitality demonstrated throughout the stopovers are a strong reflection of the close and growing ties between our Armed Forces 🎖️.

As our aircraft continue their journey home 🛫, we look back on a successful deployment and forward to further strengthening the partnership between Germany and Malaysia 🤝✨.

🇩🇪 Ambassador Silke Riecken-Daerr and her team spent two days in Pahang on a fact-finding mission with the team from Malaysian-German Chamber of Commerce and Industry around Executive Director Hannes Farlock, exploring how 🇩🇪🇲🇾 expertise and ambition are shaping the future of rare earths.

Among the highlights:

🧲 Malaysia, whose magnets power EV motors, wind turbines and medical devices.

💼 The Department of Mineral and Geoscience Malaysia Jabatan Mineral dan Geosains Malaysia -JMG, the technical authority behind the country’s mining and REE framework.

👩‍🎓 UMPSA Malaysia, whose SMaRRT Centre has spent over a decade advancing rare earth processing and helping shape national policy.

🚘 , which has rolled out over 100,000 Mercedes-Benz vehicles including a locally assembled EV.

🧪 BASF PETRONAS Chemicals, whose ingredients likely feature in something you’ve used today.

🇩🇪🤝🌏 Germany just unlocked a new level of ASEAN cooperation.
At the 59th ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting, Germany was officially granted ASEAN Sectoral Dialogue Partner status. 🎉
TL;DR: Germany and ASEAN are taking the partnership up a notch with more opportunities to work together towards the ASEAN Community Vision 2045.
