GREY ZUCCHINI'S

Are in fact a light green 💚

They are good for warm climates and are prolific producers with fruit best to be picked at about 15cm.

They will grow extremely large if left on the plant and they will get fibrous and turn an orangey yellow colour as seeds enlarge and reach maturity.

I have been growing these in Coonabarabran for 5 years now and they have a lovely flavour and seed harvested last year is now available in the seed library at The Lighthouse, Coonabarabran

The seed library at The Lighthouse, Coonabarabran has had a big spring repack!

With such gorgeous weather, come on down Wednesday-Saturday to grab some free seed packets and start growing!

The portable seed library will also be at the community garden gathering at Neilson park This Sunday the 20th.

Head over to our page in the coming weeks as I will be adding information about some of the different varieties that are available.

Happy spring planting everyone!

With Autumn upon us it is a good time to see what seeds are ready to start harvesting for next year.

Here is a little tutorial on collecting echinacea seeds.

Always remember, if you have more seeds than you need we will happily take them and package them up for the Coonabarabran seed library .

Just bring your labelled seeds into The Lighthouse, Coonabarabran and ask one of their friendly staff. They will make sure they get to us.

Hope everyone had a happy Easter!

Very exciting!
Just saw male, female and juvenile spotted bowerbirds raiding my cherry tomatoes!!!
I thought I had seen them before but this time the male posed on top of my shovel and fluffed his pink crest!

I swear my veggie patch is a third to me, a third to other people and a third to nature.

Making it nice and easy to access again!
Thank you Michelle and team for your ongoing support! It's always great to pop in, grab some free seeds and maybe sneaky coffee as well.

All seeds are free to anyone who would like to access them but we do take donations as well.
Coin donations can be put in the mouth of the hungry kookaburra on top of the seed library and all proceeds go to Rotary Club of Coonabarabran who have sponsored us for the last 2 years!

It's coming to the end of the summer season.
Don't forget to save some of your best produce to harvest seed from.
We are getting lots of seeds from Red Kuri pumpkins this year and a big harvest of the grey zucchini's!
Both of these plants like the heat and do not need as much water as some other varieties. They have produced well during this long hot summer.
