Inspired by the AMERICA 250 road trip spirit, the Humphrey Fellows have been discovering the United States one journey at a time, across cities, landmarks, and new communities, through learning, exchange, and shared adventure. 🇺🇸🌍
From Washington, DC to New York, California, Arizona, Utah, Texas, Las Vegas, and beyond, these travels have created opportunities to connect, grow, and experience the people, places, and stories that shape America.
In the lead-up to America250, we celebrate these journeys as part of the Humphrey Fellowship experience: building friendships, exchanging cultures, and exploring the richness and diversity of the United States together.

Huge congratulations to our Humphrey Fellows who earned 2nd place in Emory Global Health Institute’s 2026 Intramural Global Health Case Competition, tackling “Aging in Place in Georgia: The 2035 Dilemma—A Statewide Systems Challenge.”
🏆 Our award-winning Fellows
Dr. Anderson Galiotte, MD, PMP (Haiti)
Dr. Tariq Jagnarine, MD, MPH (Guyana)
Dr. Martin Mňahončak, PhD (Slovak Republic)
This year’s case competition pushed teams to design a four-year, $50M, evidence-based strategy to strengthen aging-in-place supports across Georgia, integrating health care, housing, transportation, caregiving, and technology, while addressing equity and sustainability.
Our Humphrey fellows didn’t just compete, they co-created!
Working shoulder-to-shoulder with the master of Public health students, they exchanged perspectives, split complex workstreams, and built on each other’s strengths to respond to a very real Georgia challenge. And that’s where the Humphrey Fellowship shines: global expertise brought into a local U.S. context. Drawing from their frontline experience across different health systems and countries, they helped shape a solution that was sharper, more innovative, and more practical, exactly the kind of cross-border thinking that strengthens systems and helps U.S. communities benefit from lessons learned around the world.
👏 Please join us in celebrating this incredible achievement!

Emory’s Humphrey Fellows participated in the Cross-Campus Collaboration (CCC) in Richmond, VA, featuring a hands-on ArcGIS StoryMaps workshop led by Dr. Karen Beardsley (formerly of UC Davis) to strengthen skills in storytelling, data visualization, and public health communication.
Fellows also had meaningful opportunities to connect with Humphrey fellows from Virginia Commonwealth University (VCU) and American University (AU), Washington College of Law. These cross-campus connections strengthened peer learning, sparked new ideas, and expanded Fellows’ professional networks across institutions.
The Emory Fellows also met with Dr. Stephen Kates, Interim Dean and EVP of the VCU School of Medicine, and Dr. Anita Navarro, Chief of Staff.

This year, the Humphrey Fellowship Cohort joined American students in two meaningful RollinsTeer service sessions with U.S organizations: Books for Africa and EcoAddendum.
At Books for Africa, fellows and students worked together to package books of all genres for children and young adults across the African continent, connecting Atlanta to global education efforts.
With EcoAddendum, they learned to recognize native versus non-native plant species and took part in safe invasive plant removal, contributing to local environmental conservation.
💙 RollinsTeer Day 2025 was not only about service, but also about cultural exchange. Fellows and U.S. students learning from one another while tackling challenges that link our local and global communities.
