Fighting for public housing - let's guarantee the human right to housing

From today's rally:

We visited residents at the Victoria Avenue public housing tower in Albert Park today to hear about how they are doing since the Victorian Labor government recently announced they would be demolishing and privatising these homes. Labor has no plans to rebuild any public housing on these sites once demolished. Residents don’t want to move into community housing. It’s more expensive and less secure. It is beyond heartbreaking to see the impact it is having on people’s lives. Residents are being told to move into Barak Beacon (that used to be public housing but was demolished and turned into private and some community housing). But there aren’t enough units for the dozens of residents from the surrounding neighbourhood towers to move into. Labor is making the housing crisis worse, We need to fight to save public housing.
