Fire Safety Tips # 5 Electrical Inspection

Out of sight shouldn't mean out of mind when it comes to your home’s wiring. Inspect Your Electrical Cords regularly for any signs of fraying, cracking, or heat damage. If a cord is damaged, don't try to tape it—Replace It Immediately. Another common hazard is the "octopus outlet," where too many devices are plugged into a single socket. Overloading your outlets can lead to electrical fires behind your walls. If you find yourself needing more plugs, consider having a professional electrician install additional outlets rather than relying on dangerous adapters.

Fire Safety Tips # 4 How to use Fire Extinguisher

Would you know what to do with a fire extinguisher in an emergency? Don't wait for a crisis to learn the T.P.A.S.S. Technique. It’s a simple four-step process: Twist the pin, Pull the pin, Aim low at the base of the fire, Squeeze the lever, and Sweep the nozzle from side to side. Keep your extinguisher in an easy-to-reach location, like the kitchen or garage, and check the pressure gauge once a month to ensure it’s ready for action. Knowing these four steps can mean the difference between a small flare-up and a total loss.

Black Saturday is a day of quiet stillness and patient hope. It commemorates the time Jesus’ body lay in the tomb after His crucifixion — a day between grief and expectation. This period of waiting encourages reflection on life’s deepest questions, reminding us that even in silence God is still at work.

Historically observed as part of Holy Week by Christians worldwide, Black Saturday (also called Holy Saturday or Sábado de Gloria in some traditions) bridges the sorrow of Good Friday and the joy of Easter Sunday. Liturgically, it is a time of prayer, fasting, and anticipation, culminating in the Easter Vigil — one of the oldest and richest rites in the Christian Church — celebrated in the hours between sunset and sunrise. -Wikipedia

Fire Safety Tips # 3 Home Escape Plan

When a fire starts, you don't have time to think—you only have time to act. That’s why having a Pre-Planned Escape Route is absolutely critical. As shown in our floor plan guide, every room should have two ways out: a door and a window. Once you're out, stay out! Establish a designated Meeting Place, a safe distance from the house, like a specific tree or the end of the driveway, so you can quickly account for everyone. Practice your "fire drill" twice a year so the movements become second nature.

Fire Safety Tips # 1 Kitchen Safety

The kitchen is the heart of the home, but it’s also where most home fires begin. To keep your cooking safe, remember the 3 - Foot Kid - Free Zone - a safety perimeter that keeps little hands and pets away from hot surfaces and boiling liquids. Never leave the kitchen while you’re frying, grilling, or broiling food; unattended cooking is a recipe for disaster. Always Turn Pot Handles Inward to prevent them from being bumped, and keep flammable items like towels and oven mitts away from the burners. Stay alert and stay safe while you cook!
